David Gaussoin (Picuris/Dine' (Navajo))

About the Artist

“I began making jewelry as a child. I saw it as a form of playing and being able to express my ideas. I still see it this way today,” says David, who is the son of famed jeweler, Connie Tsosie Gaussoin. In addition to being taught by Connie, David has also studied at IAIA and UNM and has traveled around the world seeing inspiration from many design traditions. His bold designs are always pushing the envelope and evolving the definition of “Native jewelry.” David says, “I am always interested in finding new ways of creating. I feel artists must push themselves and not be afraid to create new designs or ideas; this is what helps an artist grow.”
