Keri Ataumbi (Kiowa)

About the Artist

Raised on the Wind River Reservation in Wyoming by her Kiowa mother and her Italian father, Keri was exposed to both traditional Native American design at her mother’s trading post and contemporary aesthetics. She attended the Rhode Island School of Design before moving to Santa Fe in 1990. Today Keri creates striking, award-winning contemporary jewelry utilizing a wide variety of metals, stones, and techniques. She considers her work wearable art—exploring the relationship between jewelry's capacity as adornment and as sculpture. Her aesthetic blends geometrics and modern design with natural, organic undertones.
