Aaron & Anita Cajero (Jemez Pueblo)
About the Artist
Aaron learned the traditional art of hand-coiling pottery from his Jemez family. Appropriately for a potter, he is a member for the Fire Clan. With his highly-polished surfaces and etched designs inspired by nature and believed to protect Pueblo people, his love of pottery-making extends beyond the pieces themselves. "I enjoy working with pottery because it is an expression of how I feel about the beauty in nature and Native American art using all natural materials that Mother Earth has blessed us with," he explains. His wife, Anita, herself a fourth-generation potter, began making pottery as a child. She specializes in hand-sculpted and painted clay figures.
