Jolene Bird (Kewa (Santo Domingo))
About the Artist
Jolene learned the traditional methods of Kewa (Santo Domingo) jewelry-making from her grandfather over 20 years ago and further refined her technique at the Poeh Center. She selects only the finest raw materials and then cuts, carves, and shapes each separate element to create her bold pieces. She also makes all of her own beads and heishi from stone and shells. She is an accomplished artist particularly known for her inlaid mosaic pieces.
