Valerie Namoki (Hopi Pueblo)

About the Artist

As a girl, Valerie learned the art of making the polychrome style of traditional pottery in the Hopi community of Polacca alongside her grandmother. With the influence of her father and uncles, who were all katsina carvers, she branched out into creating pottery katsinas when she was in her late 20's. These unique creations are a real tribute to two of the most important art forms in the Hopi tradition.
