About the Artist
Considered to be one of the finest contemporary painters today, Tony Abeyta is our Living Treasure Award recipient for 2012. His art depicts complex Navajo beliefs in a distinct, modernist style. Tony continually experiments with his media, images, technique, and style--as exemplified by his recent foray into jewelry. Trained at IAIA, the Art Institute of Chicago, and NYU, Tony currently resides in both Santa Fe and Chicago. He is represented locally by Blue Rain Gallery.
