About the Artist
"I think of jewelry as little paintings in stone," says Marian, who works both as a jeweler and a painter. She grew up sharing the cultures of her Navajo father and Pueblo mother. After studying painting at IAIA, she recieved her Fine Arts degree from Northern Arizona University. She often collaborates on her tufa-cast jewelry with her husband, Steve LaRance, inspired by masters like Charles Loloma and Preston Monongye. Their son, Nakota, is a world-champion hoop dancer and is currently touring with Cirque du Soleil.
